Create a Study with Dig Agents

Build, edit, and improve surveys through a conversation with Dig Agents

Written by Alanna Colaiacovo

Dig Agents can help you create a survey from a simple description, refine questions, and make changes as you go. You can work conversationally instead of building every question manually.

Before you begin

You can create a survey with Dig Agents from:

  • The Projects page

  • An existing study

If you start from the Projects page, Dig Agents creates a new study for you. If you start from an existing study, Dig Agents adds to or edits that study.

Create a survey from a prompt

Describe the survey you want to create in plain language.

For example:

Create a 10-minute concept test for a new sparkling water brand targeting adults aged 18–34.

Build a customer satisfaction survey for recent online shoppers. Include questions about delivery, product quality, and likelihood to recommend.

Dig Agents generates a survey based on your request, including appropriate question types, wording, and flow.

Start from a saved template

Instead of building from scratch, you can ask Dig Agents to start your study from a template your team has already saved.

  • Browse Study Templates — Ask Dig Agents what templates are available. You can narrow the list by topic, category, or language.

  • Start from a Template — Describe the study you want and Dig Agents finds the matching template, applies it, creates the study, and hands you a link to keep editing.

For example:

What study templates do we have for concept testing?

Start a new study from the "Quick Concept Screen" template.

Refine your survey

After the initial survey is created, continue the conversation to make changes.

For example, you can ask Dig Agents to:

  • Add or remove questions.

  • Rewrite question wording.

  • Change answer options.

  • Reorder sections.

  • Shorten or lengthen the survey.

  • Add screening questions.

  • Improve the survey for a specific audience.

Because Dig Agents remembers the conversation, you don't need to repeat previous instructions unless your requirements change.

Edit specific questions

If you're working inside a study, Dig Agents understands which survey you're editing.

You can ask it to make targeted changes, such as:

  • Rewrite Question 5 to be more conversational.

  • Make this question single-select instead of multi-select.

  • Add an "Other (please specify)" option.

  • Randomize the answer choices.

  • Remove duplicate questions.

Dig Agents updates the survey while preserving the rest of your work.

Set up your audience

Dig Agents can set up a study's audience for you directly in chat.

  • Demographic Group Templates — Ask Dig Agents to search for and apply ready-made demographic groups.

  • Custom Audiences — Build an audience from scratch, including choosing its country and language.

  • Demographic Fine-Tuning — Tailor demographics like age, gender, and income, and set quotas on each group.

  • Targeted Screeners — Choose which demographic groups a screener question applies to.

For example:

Set the audience to US adults 18–34, 50/50 gender split.

Apply our "Working Parents" demographic template and add a quota of 200 per group.

Use existing studies as context

If you want Dig Agents to reference another study while building your survey, add it to the conversation using an @mention.

For example, you might ask:

Create a shorter version of @2025 Brand Tracker.

Or:

Use the screener from @Concept Test A in this survey.

Review before publishing

Dig Agents helps draft and edit your survey, but you should always review the results before publishing.

Check that:

  • Questions match your research objectives.

  • Logic and routing are correct.

  • Answer options are appropriate.

  • Survey length meets your requirements.

You can continue asking Dig Agents to make changes until you're satisfied.

Tips

  • Start with your research objective rather than individual questions.

  • Include details like audience, survey length, and research goals.

  • Ask Dig Agents what templates are available before building from scratch.

  • Describe your target audience and let Dig Agents set it up for you.

  • Make changes by continuing the same conversation instead of starting over.

  • Use @mentions to reference existing studies.Answer options are appropriate.

  • Survey length meets your requirements.

You can continue asking Dig Agent to make changes until you're satisfied.
