Edit a Study with Dig Agents

Update questions, refine your survey, and make changes using natural language

Written by Alanna Colaiacovo

Dig Agents can help you edit an existing study by making changes to questions, answer options, survey structure, and more. Simply describe what you'd like to change, and continue the conversation until your survey is ready.

Before you begin

Open the study you want to edit, then start or continue a conversation with Dig Agents.

When you're working inside a study, Dig Agents automatically understands which study you're referring to, so you usually don't need to specify its name.

Make changes with natural language

Describe the changes you want to make in plain language.

For example:

  • Rewrite the introduction to be more conversational.

  • Add a question about purchase intent after the concept evaluation.

  • Remove duplicate questions.

  • Change this question to single select.

  • Randomize the answer options for all attribute questions.

  • Shorten the survey to about 10 minutes.

Dig Agents updates your study based on your request while preserving the rest of your survey.

Apply a saved template to an existing study

You can also swap an existing study's content for a saved template in a single step.

  • Apply to an Existing Study — In create mode, ask Dig Agents to replace a study's sections and questions with a saved template.

  • Confirmation First — Dig Agents spells out exactly what will be replaced — sections, questions, responses, name, description, and emoji — and waits for your go-ahead before making the change.

For example:

Replace this study with the "Quick Concept Screen" template.

Continue refining your study

You don't have to make every change in a single prompt. Continue the same conversation to refine your study over multiple requests.

For example, you might ask Dig Agents to:

  • Improve question wording.

  • Add or remove questions.

  • Reorder sections.

  • Update answer options.

  • Add screening questions.

  • Simplify language for a specific audience.

  • Make the survey shorter or longer.

  • Duplicate questions or answer options.

Because Dig Agents remembers the conversation, you can build on previous requests without repeating them.

Fine-tune your audience

Dig Agents can also update a study's audience for you in chat.

  • Demographic Fine-Tuning — Tailor demographics like age, gender, and income, and set quotas on each group.

  • Targeted Screeners — Choose which demographic groups a screener question applies to.

For example:

Add a quota of 150 for the 35–44 age group.

Only show the loyalty screener question to the "existing customers" demographic group.

Screener disqualifications

Each disqualification now sits directly after the question it applies to, instead of stacking at the bottom of the screener. This makes it easier to see and review a question's disqualification logic in context as you edit.

Reference another study

If you want Dig Agents to use another study as a reference, add it to the conversation with an @mention.

For example:

Copy the screener from @Brand Tracker into this study.

Or:

Use the demographic questions from @Concept Test and adapt them for this survey.

Review your changes

Before publishing your study, review the changes Dig Agents made to ensure they match your research objectives.

Check that:

  • Questions are worded as intended.

  • Answer options are complete and accurate.

  • Survey flow and logic still make sense.

  • The overall survey length meets your requirements.

If anything needs adjusting, simply continue the conversation and ask Dig Agents to make additional changes.

Tips

  • Open the study before asking Dig Agents to make edits.

  • Be as specific as possible about the changes you want.

  • Ask Dig Agents to apply a saved template if you want to start the study over from a standard structure.

  • Continue the same conversation as you refine your survey.

  • Use @mentions to reference questions or content from other studies.
